The holiday season has seen NAC athletes with incredible performances both here at home in Tennessee and abroad!

NAC took seven athletes to the 2017 Speedo Winter Junior Championships in Knoxville, TN December 6-9, 2017.  Overall, the NAC women’s team of Julia Jane Eskew, Lauren Hurt, Ella Nelson, Allie Raab, Alex Walsh, and Gretchen Walsh took home 5 of the 6 relay gold medals and finished in 2nd place in the overall women’s team race.  Eli Knobloch represented the NAC men.

Alex Walsh took home Junior National Championships in the 200IM (new meet record, new NAG record), 100 Breast (new meet record, new NAG record), 100 Back, and 200 Back.  Gretchen Walsh took home a Junior National Championship in the 50 Free (new meet record, new NAG record).  The NAC women’s team of Allie Raab, Gretchen Walsh, Ella Nelson, and Alex Walsh also set a Junior National meet record with their performance in the 800 Freestyle relay.

 

Other NAC athlete’s with top-8 finishes included Ella Nelson (200IM – 5th, 200BR – 2nd), Allie Raab (200IM – 6th, 100BR – 4th, 200BR – 4th).

Alex Walsh traveled to Tokyo, Japan and Singapore as a member of USA Swimming’s 18&U International Team in November.  Alex had many great performances, including 4th place finishes in Tokyo in the 50BR, 100IM, and 100BK.  In Singapore, Alex won a bronze medal in the 100BK.  Additionally, Alex was a member of the World Junior Record setting relay in the mixed 200 medley relay.
